My step-grandfather, John Morefield, led a simple life working from sunrise to sunset and enjoying every minute of it. He was always singing a song and I wish I would have recorded the many songs he would sing during a work day. "At the end of the day" is a simple dedication to him. During my summers with my grandparents, we would sit down for an evening meal and he would reflect quietly on his work or play a simple game of solitaire. At the end of the day, it was good to reflect upon the important things in life. Now, after 35 years in IM/IT, living crazy schedules, Y2K fears, dot com busts, seeing programming languages proliferate almost as fast as bugs in a rushed project while hardware shrinks to palm sized devices, different management styles and trends, arguments over philosophical differences which make no sense in the long run, I wonder...at the end of the day did we really accomplish anything?
